Launched in 1995, the Mid Valley project is one of the largest urban development projects in the world. Mid Valley Megamall itself is the primary component of Phase One of this undertaking.

The vision of the owners was to develop a world-class shopping mall to serve the citizens of the Klang Valley and beyond, complementing the visionary stance of the Malaysian Government.

One of the first priorities addressed by the developer was accessibility. Being strategically located between Kuala Lumpur city centre and Petaling Jaya, care was taken to connect the Federal Highway and all the major catchment and residential suburbs within the Klang Valley to Mid Valley Megamall. RM250 million was invested in a network of roads and flyovers to achieve this objective.

Research conducted also helped to mould the final character of the Megamall. Shopper and household surveys were instrumental in finetuning configuration of the mall to answer market needs and preferences.
